Primary Care Maternity Clinic

Primary Care Maternity Clinics offer obstetrical patients excellent care during their pregnancies. The goal of these clinics is to provide a service to the patient and their existing family physician for the pregnancy and delivery, including newborn hospital care. If your physician has hospital privileges at the Sturgeon Community Hospital, they can provide newborn care as well.

The patient and the newborn will resume care with their regular family physician following delivery at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.

The physicians in the primary care clinic may refer the patient on to an obstetrician if complications arise during the pregnancy, labour or delivery.

The Primary Care Maternity Clinic supports the family medical residency program through the University of Alberta. Medical residents may help you with the support of one of the clinic physicians.
